Arular
M.I.A. has come out with a debut album entitled Arular which is a bad ass assembly of electro, world, and hip-hop sounds. The producers on the tracks use a lot of rough and clear synth sounds along with really danceable beats. M.I.A. delivers sing-song lyrical treatment that just wraps her tracks in her unique sound. This album is fresh and unique and I enjoyed every bit of it!

Griffin and Sabine: An Extraordinary Correspondence
A Ben and Cam favorite,
Griffin and Sabine follows the story of Griffin, a London stamp designer, and Sabine, a mysterious woman who lives on an island in the South Pacific and who begins writing to Griffin one day, seemingly at random. This truly magical story unfolds through the illustrated letters and postcards exchanged by Griffin and Sabine. An amazing book. We love it.

Liquor
Poppy Z. Brite's latest novel follows New Orleans chefs John Rickey and Gary Stubbs (characters first introduced in her Novella,
The Value of X) as they launch their own restaurant. It's a great read, and proves her merit (to anyone who needed proof, certainly not me) as a novelist, not just a "genre writer."

26 Mixes for Cash
Richard James troubles himself to actually work in the studio in order to do some remixes. Since many artists out there would kill to have him remix their tracks, the ones that have been selected are lucky. This album is fantastic, as usual, from electronic music's Beetoven.

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West
When we follow Dorothy through Frank L. Baum's candy-coated classic,
The Wizard of Oz, we hear the story of an innocent girl who faces an evil witch in a strange and distant land in order to find her way home again. But just who is this "Wicked" Witch of the West? Are Dorothy and her friends — an unlikely band of assassins, if ever there was one — really as innocent as they appear?
