A random visit to Knoxville
I had an interesting trip to Knoxville yesterday. Interesting mostly because of my new friends Trey and Whitey. I've known Trey for a while and he's a really nice guy. He asked me to come with him and some guy named Whitey to Knoxville for a U.S. Foods convention. Lots of food in a big room was the M.O. and a night in a hotel in Knoxville, TN.I'm always up for an adventure, so I decided to go. I thought there might be a networking opportunity or at the very least I could hang out with Whitey who was a wealthy businessman who owns a neat restaurant in Elizabethton called Bridges Cafe. Bridges could use our help I suppose, but business is good there and even if they cleaned up their branding and were consistent with marketing, their location, atmosphere, and food were what really kept the place profitable.
As it turns out, this guy Whitey is one of the most unique and fun characters I've ever met. He's 70+ years old and is something like a cross between Hugh Hefner and Frank Sinatra. He told more jokes on this trip that I've heard in a long time and I think I laughed at every single one. Real, deep laughs, too... And the stories! Wow. I won't publish them here, but just let your imagine plots that involve strip clubs, hulk hogan, ron jon, and flights to paris with Nick Nolte. Anway, it was a blast and I really look forward to hearing some more of Whitey's tales and humor.
