Thusday Magic at Waynes
I played in a magic tournament last night and did fairly well — I placed 2nd out of 8 in a sanctioned type 2. I've been playing black/green for a month or so trying to really see where the deck worked. I happen to have 4 overgrown tombs, so I see no reason why I shouldn't play B/G right? Here's the deck:
4 llanowar elves
4 elves of deep shadow
4 ravenous rats
4 wood elves
4 okiba-gang shinobi (mvp)
2 Ink-eyes
2 Kokusho
2 Kodama
3 Putrefy
2 Last Gasp
3 Creeping Mold
3 Umezawa's Jitte
Sideboard:
2 Ghost lit stalkers
2 Nezumi Shortfang
1 Kodama
1 Arashi
1 Creeping Mold
2 Last Gasp
2 Cranial Extraction
2 Naturalize
3 Iwamori
The deck performed admirably and I feel like I finally have a black green build I can live with — juste as Guildpact comes out and changes everything. I lost to a Glare of Subdual deck in the finals. After I played it multiple times after the tournament, I have decided this is a bad matchup and I need to have some better answeres for the deck. My sideboard was too heavily tilted towards control, actually. I'm going to make a few tweaks... something like:
4 llanowar elves
4 elves of deep shadow
4 wood elves
4 ravenous rats
4 okiba-gang shinobi
3 ink-eyes
3 kodama
4 umezawa's jitte
4 creeping mold
4 putrefy
Sideboard:
2 ghost-lit stalkers
3 Nezumi shortfang
4 naturalize
2 cranial
4 something or other.
